I’ve recently taken to browsing Etsy. I knew about the site and its wares before, but never bothered to register an account for either buying or selling and didn’t take the time to give it a good look in the past.
Over the last week, I’ve been browsing here and there and made an account for potential purchases and to favorite items and sellers alike. I dared to be adventurous and searched for Victorian and steampunk listings, finding there’s a healthy community devoted to both. Delighted, I’ve added quite a few pieces to my favorites and purchased one last night with a bit of money I had left over from commissions in my paypal account.
It’s a beautiful little piece, made and sold by PickyPicky Designs; a stamped brass owl that’s been antiqued and sealed in resin. I love the look of antiqued brass, and I enjoy unusual jewelry designs that aren’t overly formal or garish. At $15, it was a steal and I couldn’t pass up buying it.

I love Esty! Although I was really disappointed the last messenger bag I bought from there shrunk like hell. Oh well.
Good find!

I love Etsy now too! Although, I do kind of regret finding it, since I want to buy so many things I don’t necessarily need or am able to afford. So much temptation!
Although, I’m hoping to get proficient enough at crochet that I can sell things I make through etsy. Maybe even a few original artwork pieces too.

Love your new necklace, very pretty!
About the Steampunk trend, at first I wasn’t sure what I felt about it, but now, I love it! I love the mix of Victorian and Steam. I am currently working on a piece where I’m carving gears and more into a gourd to create a “steampunk” vessel.
The clothes, the jewelry, the accessories that I’ve seen are all gorgeous. I’ve found many things in this trend on Etsy too.
Happy Shopping!
